Industrial Organization

Industrial organization is the field of economics that tries to understand the behavior of companies, and what that behavior means for the well-being of consumers. Any field of scientific inquiry is defined by the questions that are trying to be answered. Some of the questions explored by industrial organization economists include, “What determines the prices that companies charge? How many different products are offered? How aggressively are they advertised? Why are some markets dominated by a small number of firms?”
