The European Union consists of, at the moment, 27 European countries that coordinate social and economic policy, and that act as a single market, with no trade, labor, or financial barriers between them. Sixteen members of the European Union also share a single currency, called the Euro. Although the European Union is not a country, it is treated like a country, and has ambassadors to other countries.
