Urban Enterprise Zone

Urban enterprise zones are areas with tax concessions and other incentives to foster their economic development. Many of these areas have a legacy of urban decay and high unemployment. For instance, in part of the metropolitan area of Syracuse, N.Y., firms can receive up to $3,000 tax credits per new employee, and favorable credit conditions on major expansion projects.
