Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, is the health-care reform act that became federal law in 2010. An important component of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is the requirement that nearly all individuals obtain health insurance. In 2012, the Supreme Court found that this so-called “individual mandate” is legal under the United States Constitution.
