Encryption

To insure the exchange of confidential data, it is necessary to transform data into a format that is unreadable to anyone except those with special information on how to recover the original message. This process is known as encryption. The most common use of encryption is for transmission of confidential data over the internet. Encryption of messages is an old practice that dates at least as far back as Julius Caesar.
