Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility involves initiatives and programs that are designed to fulfill an ethical obligation to some party, such as the local community or the environment, rather than simply to increase profits. A devastating earthquake hit western China in 2008. As part of its corporate social responsibility program, Google funded the construction of 15 schools in Szechuan Province, helping 18,000 elementary and high school students to return to the classroom.
